Tips for Using AdWords Successfully

If you’re looking for a way to build traction online in the short term, there are a few options that can help. One of the best is PPC advertising. While there are plenty of different platforms out there, Google’s AdWords is one of the better choices. Not only does it embed your ads in organic search results from the world’s largest and most powerful search engine, but the platform offers a number of tools to help improve your results. However, if you’re new to AdWords, using it can be a little confusing. Here are a few important tips to ensure you’re seeing the results you need.

Grow Sales, Not Brand Awareness

Both sales and brand awareness are important for overall success, but AdWords isn’t the right place to enhance branding. It’s a sales-growth tool. You need a clear goal going in, and that should relate directly to your sales and profitability. Brand awareness is better enhanced through other methods, such as content marketing and social media marketing. Write Ads Tailored to Your Audience
AdWords ads require you to write copy that incites curiosity and compels the viewer to click the link in the ad to learn more. The language you use here should be tailored specifically to your audience. It should attract your audience’s attention, raise their interest and convince them to click the link.

Match the Ads to the Landing Page

You can’t use the same ad for multiple landing pages. You need to ensure that each ad is paired perfectly with the associated page, or you risk immediately alienating your visitors. When a customer clicks the link in an ad, they expect to be taken to a completely relevant page. Any attempt to mislead your audience (even if it’s unintentional) will create negative results that you cannot afford.
As an online marketer, your work is never done. You can’t create a campaign and then kick back and relax. You must constantly test new ads, new copy, new landing pages, new keyword combinations, negative keywords, mobile-specific ads and more. By constantly testing, you will constantly improve, even if incrementally.

Know All the Key Metrics

When looking at your AdWords results, make sure you’re looking at all the key metrics. You can’t afford to focus on just one or two, as they all have something important to tell you. You should focus on cost per conversion, conversions, clicks, click through ratio, conversion rate and average conversion value in order to determine just how well your ads are performing and what you need to do in order to improve that performance.

Hire a Pro

AdWords can be confusing and frustrating, particularly if you’re new to PPC marketing. If you’re struggling, know when to throw in the towel and call an expert to help. It could mean the difference between success and throwing money down the drain.
With these tips, you should be able to see much better success with your AdWords marketing.
